Why do my cards always go missing from my desk and how can I keep them organized?
I'm a freelance illustrator and I have a huge collection of art cards, reference cards, and business cards that I use for inspiration and reference. However, I've been struggling with keeping them organized and on my desk. It's really frustrating when I need a particular card and it's nowhere to be found. I've tried using card holders, folders, and even a card tray, but nothing seems to work for long. I was wondering if there are any other ideas or solutions that I could try to keep my cards organized and within reach.
I'd also love to hear from others who have struggled with this issue and how they solved it. Do you have any tips or tricks for keeping cards organized? Do you have a specific system or method that works for you?

I totally get why you're frustrated - it's so annoying when you can't find that one card you need. I've been there too, especially when I was a graphic designer and had to deal with a huge collection of reference cards. One thing that helped me was to designate a specific spot for each type of card. For example, I kept all my business cards in a separate holder near the phone, while my art cards and reference cards were organized by category in a card tray on my desk.
I also started using a system of labels and tags to help me quickly identify what was inside each section. For instance, I labeled each section with the type of card it held, and then used small stickers or tabs to indicate what was inside each individual card holder. It might sound a bit old-fashioned, but trust me, it made a huge difference. Now, when I need a specific card, I can just scan the labels and find it in seconds.
As for keeping your cards from getting lost in the first place, I think the key is to create a habit of putting them back in their designated spot after you've used them. It's easy to get into the habit of just leaving them on your desk or on the floor, but that's exactly where they'll get lost. Try making it a rule to always put your cards away as soon as you're done with them, and you'll be amazed at how much more organized you'll stay.
